Its design concept is similar to that of a neck welding flange, but the welding location is different. Socket welding flanges are particularly suitable for small-diameter pipelines, and their unique socket welding method makes the installation process easier and more efficient.

    Structural characteristics

    The socket welding flange has a section of socket hole inside, allowing the pipe to be directly inserted and welded. When welding, a circle of weld seam should be formed on the back of the flange to ensure the stability of the connection. Due to the gap between the socket flange and the pipe, corrosion issues may occur, so an additional weld seam is usually added internally to prevent corrosion. In addition, the fatigue strength of socket welding flanges has increased by 5% compared to flat welding flanges, while the static strength remains unchanged.

    Socket welding flanges are widely used in industries such as boiler pressure vessels, petrochemicals, shipbuilding, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy, machinery manufacturing, and food processing. Especially suitable for pipeline systems with nominal diameter DN ≤ 50 and pressure PN ≤ 10.0MPa.
